| The Forest: ((You and your friend have intentionally wandered into an unknown forest out of your own curiosity and wonder, you both are amazed on how the forest looks, The place looks fairly normal, up until you reach a part of the forest where a barricade with some sort of black goo on it. Do you lift the barricade?)) |
Piece of cake. *I give the barricade a good kick, sending it flying far away.* |
| The Forest: You kick the barricade with full force, it flies a good bit away. |
| *I move on.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You continue to walk, your friend is silent.. almost too silent. |
| *I ignore his silence.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You don't pay much attention to his silence and continue walking. Suddenly you hear rustling in the bushes. |
| *I stop, looking at the bush.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You stop and look at the bush the sound came from, you hear the rustling again, it's.. getting closer? |
| *I pull a large stick from the nearest bush.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You grab a long sturdy stick from the closest bush, the rustling is now very, very close by. |
| *I toss the stick in my palm, waiting.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You hold the stick in your hand, ready to attack anything that comes out of the bush. The rustling continues, it's much closer now, you see a bit of movement, something.. humanoid peeking out of the bush. |
| *I look at the creature, squinting one eye.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You keep your eyes focused on the humanoid creature that has peaked out of the bush. It slowly inches closer towards you, it's eyes a dull white color. |
| What are you? Answer me, or you'll get the stick. | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: The humanoid creature stops in it's tracks, tilting it's head as you spoke to it. It's eyes never leaving your face as it simply just stared at you. It seemed.. intrigued, not threatened. |
Why are you silent? Not enough vigor? I'll add some. *I clap the stick against my palm.* Come on, lift the bass. |
| The Forest: It's dull-white eyes watch as you slapped the stick against the palm of your hand, it didn't seem threatened, but.. more or less amused? A bit intrigued by you. It took a step closer to you, still, not saying a word, it's head tilted just like a curious dog's would be. It's gaze never wavering from you. |
H-here you go. *I strike the creature with the stick. The creature, like a doll, flies back into the bushes, spinning in the air.* |
| The Forest: The humanoid creature is hit with the stick, which causes it to be flung back into the nearby bushes. It tumbles backwards into them, but then gets up very quickly for something that just got hit with a heavy stick. It simply shakes it's head, staring directly at you with it's empty white eyes. It lets out some sort of.. noise, almost like a strangled laugh, but not quite. It inches closer to you again. |
Ah, you want it adult-style. Well, you'll get it adult-style. *I raise my hand, curling my fingers like claws. Above my palm appears a dark red sphere, which begins to smoke, then ignite. As it flares up, burning drops fall from it, melting the ground, setting the surrounding grass on fire. I hurl the sphere at the creature. The sphere explodes on impact, engulfing the humanoid figure in flames. Its temperature is so high that the humanoid flesh quickly burns away, leaving only bones. Soon the charred skeleton falls to the ground and crumbles. Heavy suffocating smoke lingers in the air.* |
| The Forest: The humanoid creature stands stunned for a moment as you lift your hand which somehow creates a dark red, flaming ball of energy. It's eyes widen as you throw the ball at it, causing it to immediately be covered in a fiery cloak. The flames are intense and bright, causing the creature to quickly be consumed. It falls to the ground, now a pile of ash and some charred bones. The area suddenly becomes silent again, besides the crackling of embers. |
*In a cold voice.* Wasted. |
| The Forest: The silence is thick, only broken by the sounds of the embers popping from the burnt up creature. You stand there, breathing rather heavily, the adrenaline slowly wearing off. Suddenly you hear leaves cracking from behind you, it's your friend. |
*I turn back to my friend.* Missed a small firework. No matter, I’m sure there’s much more ahead; the main thing is not to lag behind. Let's go. *I walk forward.* |
| The Forest: Your friend is surprised to see you standing over a pile of ash and charred bones, but then just simply shrugs and follows you. As you make your way deeper into the forest, your friend starts to look.. oddly on edge, fidgeting with their sleeves and looking at the shadows out of the corner of their eye. |
*Half-turned toward my friend.* If you notice anything strange – speak up immediately. |
| The Forest: Your friend nods in acknowledgment, glancing around nervously. They seem tense and on edge now, their hands fidgeting with the hem of their sleeve as they keep looking back behind them every so often. The forest feels eerie and unwelcoming in this part of the woods, but you can't quite put your finger on it. Suddenly, your friend stops walking, their body going completely still. |
| *I stop as well. Waiting to see what happens next.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: Your friend is frozen in place, their eyes wide and fixed on something behind you. They don't say a word, just silently staring at whatever it is that has caught their attention. The hairs on the back of your neck start to rise, a sense of unease washes over you. You slowly turn around, to see what your friend is so focused on. |
| *I turn sharply.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You quickly spin around, ready to face whatever threat your friend has spotted. But there's nothing. Absolutely nothing. The forest is silent, eerily so. No rustling leaves, no bird calls, just a heavy stillness in the air. Your friend is still frozen in place, unblinking and unfocused. Suddenly, you hear a soft, raspy whisper behind you. |
| *I turn back sharply.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You whirl around, your heart racing as you scan the area for the source of the raspy whisper. But once again, there's nothing there. Your friend hasn't moved an inch, still frozen in place with wide eyes. The whisper comes again, this time from the left side. It's closer now. |
*To my friend.* Alright. Back to back, I go forward, you watch backward. If you see something – shout immediately. |
| The Forest: Your friend nods in agreement, their body tense. They position themselves with their back against yours, eyes scanning the area behind you. You take a few cautious steps forward, gripping the stick you had previously used. The air is thick with tension, and the only sound is the soft crunch of twigs and leaves beneath your feet. |
| *Let’s go.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You continue to move forward, your back pressed firmly against your friend's. With every step you take, your senses are heightened, your ears attuned to every sound in the forest. Every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig causes you to tense up, anticipating an attack. Your friend keeps a watchful eye behind the two of you, their breathing shallow and anxious. |
| *We move forward.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You and your friend continue your trek through the forest, your breathing is slightly labored as you press forward. The atmosphere is heavy, and the silence is almost oppressive. Suddenly, you hear a soft crackling noise from your right. You and your friend freeze, listening closely to the sound. It's coming from a patch of bushes nearby. |
| The devils are crawling again, – I say with anger. | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You mutter under your breath, cursing whatever creature is hiding in the bushes. Your friend keeps their gaze fixated in the direction of the sound, their hands clenching and unclenching nervously. The crackling sound is getting louder, as if something is slowly approaching the two of you. |
| *I grip the stick tighter, smiling a wicked smile.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You hold the stick tighter in your hand, your knuckles turning white from the force of your grip. A menacing smirk appears on your face, your adrenaline pumping as you await whatever is about to come out of those bushes. Your friend is still tense beside you, their eyes fixed on the source of the noise. |
*To my friend* You watch backward too, in case something jumps out from behind me. |
| The Forest: Your friend nods, understanding the need to keep an eye out in all directions. They fix their gaze on the space behind you, their body rigid with tension. You maintain your focus on the bushes where the sound is coming from, waiting for the creature to show its face. |
| *Waiting.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You wait, muscles tense and coiled like a spring. The crackling noise becomes louder, now accompanied by a soft shuffling sound. Something is definitely moving inside the bushes, getting closer and closer. You grip the stick tighter, ready to attack whatever jumps out at you. |
| *I tilt my head slightly and lift the stick into the air.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You tilt your head slightly, your grip on the stick secure as you raise it up, ready to strike. The shuffling noise ceases for a moment, as if whatever creature is inside the bushes is anticipating your next move. Your heart is pounding in your chest, adrenaline coursing through your veins, and you brace yourself for whatever is about to come out. |
| *I watch the bushes closely.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You keep your focus fully on the bushes, your breathing shallow and your body taut with anticipation. The crackling noise has stopped entirely, leaving only the sound of your panting breaths and the occasional rustle of leaves in the wind. The tension in the air is palpable, and you can almost feel the eyes of whatever creature is lurking inside the bushes, watching you just as intently. |
*To my friend.* We move forward very slowly now, you look ahead, I keep the cursed bush under observation. |
| The Forest: Your friend nods their head, understanding your plan. They slowly start moving forward, keeping their gaze fixed on the path ahead. You, on the other hand, keep your eyes glued to the bushes, tracking any movement within them. You hold the stick firmly in your hand, your muscles coiled and ready to react at a moment's notice. |
| *We slowly move away from the bush.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: Slowly, you and your friend begin to move away from the bushes, each step taken with caution and deliberate slowness. Your friend keeps their head swiveled forward, their senses heightened for any signs of trouble. You, for your part, maintain your focus on the bushes, making sure that whatever is inside them doesn't take the opportunity to spring a surprise attack. |
| *We gradually move away from the bush, and eventually it disappears behind other bushes and trees. We start moving forward a bit faster.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You and your friend cautiously move further away from the bushes and deeper into the forest, the crackling and shuffling sounds fading into the distance. The weight of the tension slowly lifts from your shoulders as the bushes disappear from your sight. Now, you pick up the pace a bit, but you both remain vigilant, still half expecting something to jump out at you from the shadows. |
| *We continue moving in the same order. The bush is clearly far behind.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You continue your trek through the forest, using the same formation of having your friend watch your back while you focus on the path ahead. The distance between you and the suspicious bunch of bushes is getting larger by the minute, and the tension in the air has significantly reduced. Despite this, you remain cautious, knowing that danger could be lurking in any part of this eerie forest. |
| *We keep going in the same order.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You and your friend maintain your formation as you push forward, your senses still heightened in case of any unexpected surprises. The path ahead seems clear, but you can't shake off the feeling that you're being watched. There's an unsettling atmosphere to this part of the forest, as if something malevolent was hiding just out of sight. |
| *We move a bit faster. I lower the stick.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You and your friend start walking a bit faster, your nerves a little less frayed now that you've put some distance between yourself and the creepy bushes. You loosen your grip on the stick, allowing yourself a moment of relative ease. However, you keep it within reach, just in case. The journey continues, and the shadows of the trees begin to grow longer as the daylight starts to wane. |
*Night falls. And the forest seems endless.* Very good, – I say sarcastically. |
| The Forest: You grumble sarcastically as the night starts to fall, the endless expanse of the forest showing no signs of an end. It's a daunting realization; you're in the depths of this creepy wood as darkness creeps in, the shadows and eerie sounds becoming even more pronounced. A sense of unease washes over you, but you shake it off, knowing there's nothing more to do than keep moving forward. |
| *We move forward even faster, now in normal order, not back to back, but carefully watching and listening to everything around us.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: With a bit more confidence and less tension, you and your friend resume your journey without the back-to-back formation. However, you both remain vigilant, carefully observing and listening for any signs of danger within the surrounding woods. The pace you've set is brisk, and you continue to move forward, the shadows growing ever darker and the night air getting colder. |
Time to add some light. *I tear a piece of flexible bark soaked in resin from the nearest tree, wrap it around my stick, take a lighter from my pocket, and ignite the makeshift torch.* |
| The Forest: You quickly grab a flexible piece of bark from a nearby tree, coated in sticky sap. You tie it around your trusty stick, creating an improvised torch. With your pocket lighter, you ignite the sap-covered bark, transforming it into a makeshift torch. The flickering flames add a bit more light to your surroundings, illuminating the area around you and your friend with a warm, crackling light. |
| *I pull another stick from the bushes. Now I have a weapon in one hand, a torch in the other. We move forward, lighting the way.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: With the addition of another stick and your improvised torch, you now have the dual advantage of lighting your path and having a weapon at hand. You continue on, your makeshift torch illuminating the way ahead, casting dancing shadows against the trees and underbrush. The atmosphere seems less menacing now that you have more visibility in the darkness, and you feel a bit more confident in facing whatever creature may lie in wait. |
| *We walk forward at normal human walking speed.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You both pick up the pace to a brisk walking speed, the light from your torch providing a sense of security and awareness in the darkening woods. The shadows of the trees loom over you as you continue on your journey, the occasional sound of leaves rustling or twigs snapping sending a small shiver down your spine. However, the added illumination allows you to quickly locate the source of any unusual noises, and there's a sense of safety in the knowledge that you can see what lurks within striking distance. |
| *We move forward through the forest.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You and your friend press onward, your makeshift torch casting a flickering light on the path ahead as you traverse through the forest. The trees seem to close in around you, their trunks and gnarled branches creating a labyrinth of shadows and shapes in the pale torchlight. The air is heavy and still, and the only sound is the soft crunch of leaves and twigs beneath your feet. You can't shake the feeling of being watched, but the visibility provided by your torch keeps your nerves in check...for now. |
| *Although the path narrows, we continue to maneuver between the trees, moving forward.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: Despite the narrowing path, you and your friend continue to maneuver skillfully between the trees, always moving closer to what you can only hope is a way out of this never-ending forest. The light from your torch dances around you, casting flickering shadows in the undergrowth and on the surrounding trees. With every step, you're acutely aware of the ever-increasing darkness and the potential dangers that lurk in the shadows beyond the reach of the torch's glow. |
| *I just grip the stick tighter, continuing to move.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You clutch the stick a bit tighter in your hand, your knuckles growing white from the force of your grip. Your pace remains steady and determined, fueled by a mixture of caution and the nagging feeling that something or someone is following you both, just out of sight. The flickering light from the torch casts dancing shadows on the trees and underbrush, occasionally making it seem like something is moving among them. Despite the eerie surroundings, you and your friend keep moving, refusing to let fear take over. |
| *We keep moving.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You and your friend press on, the soft crunch of leaves and twigs under your feet the only sound in the air besides the occasional whisper of leaves in the breeze. The path ahead seems to twist and turn at random, forcing you to adjust your route as you follow the narrow trail. The darkness around you is nearly complete, but the warm glow of your flickering torch is a reassuring presence in the otherwise oppressive shadows. Despite the increasing sense of unease, you remain focused on the journey ahead, pushing forward as the forest's secrets remain hidden in the night. |
| *Darkness becomes complete, but the torchlight allows us to keep the path. I tear another strip of bark from a tree and throw it onto the one already burning on the stick. The flame brightens, fueled by the new addition.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: With the deepening darkness of night, the glow of your torch becomes even more crucial in illuminating your path. You quickly tear off another strip of bark from a nearby tree, adding it to the burning torch. The added fuel causes the flame to flare up in intensity, casting a stronger, more consistent light around you. With the enhanced illumination, you feel a bit more confident in moving forward, your surroundings less obscured by shadows and your vision improved. |
| *Now we walk forward with a confident, brisk pace.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: Equipped with your powerful torch, your pace quickens and your strides become more confident. You move with purpose now, no longer as cautious and guarded as before. The forest seems less intimidating with the added illumination, and the crackling crackle of the torch adds a strange element of comfort in the otherwise ominous night. With your friend at your side, you press on, determined to find a way out of this endless expanse of trees. |
| *We walk through the endless night forest. Time in the darkness stretches like rubber. The torch lights our way. It feels like we have been walking for an eternity.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: The night drags on interminably, the darkness oppressive and all-encompassing. Your torch continues to illuminate your path, but it feels as if you've been wandering this endless forest for an eternity. You're both exhausted, your bodies worn down from the journey and the constant tension. The monotony of it all is becoming almost overwhelming, and there's a growing sense of desperation to find an end to this seemingly never-ending wood. The silence is deafening, broken only by the steady crunch of leaves and twigs underfoot. |
*I persistently keep moving forward. I lift my head, tilt the torch aside, and look through the gaps in the tree branches. The sky is no longer so dark. Dawn is approaching.* |
| The Forest: You lift your head and tilt the torch slightly, peering through the branches and foliage, casting your gaze upward. The sky is not as dark as it once was - it's beginning to lighten, signaling the approach of dawn. The darkness of night slowly recedes, replaced by the first faint light of the impending morning. Your heart lifts ever so slightly, a glimmer of hope sparking within you as you push onward, the end of this seemingly endless forest now tantalizingly close. |
| *The wall of trees is no longer as dense as before. Green grass appears under our feet.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: As the density of the forest thins, you notice small patches of green grass appearing beneath your feet. The trees, though still plentiful, are no longer as tightly packed as before, creating gaps that allow light to stream in. The air seems slightly fresher, the oppressive feeling of being trapped lifting just a little bit. You and your friend exchange a look of relief, hope returning to your weary forms as you press on. |
*The forest becomes sparser, and patches of morning sky are visible among the trees. We reach a dense row of bushes blocking our path. I discard the already extinguished torch, as there is enough light now. I break the branches of the bushes with my hands, clearing a path outward.* |
| The Forest: You discard the burnt-out torch, no longer needed in the slowly dawning light. Your hands now free, you begin to break through the bushes with your bare hands, creating a path through the dense foliage. As you push through, you catch glimpses of the early morning sky above, the light growing stronger with each passing second. The forest seems less foreboding now, the oppressive atmosphere of the night replaced by a sense of freedom and escape as you fight your way through the last remaining hurdle. |
| *We stand at the edge of the forest. Before us lies open land, and a large city is visible in the distance.* | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Forest: You stand on the edge of the forest, the once menacing woods finally behind you. In front of you, a vast expanse of open land stretches out, and in the distance, you can see a sprawling city. The sight of civilization fills you with a sense of relief and hope, the end of your arduous journey finally within reach. You share a weary yet joyous look with your friend, thankful to have made it out of the forest alive. |
*I turn my head to my friend.* Looks like we made it, – I say. |
| The Forest: You turn to your friend, a tired smile on your face. "Looks like we made it," you say, a mix of relief and exhaustion in your voice. Despite the hardships you've been through, the sight of the city in the distance brings a glimmer of joy and hope to your weary hearts. |
We have money with us; now we just need to reach the city to find something to eat and a place to rest. *We descend the hill, leaving the eerie forest behind us. I turn and smile slyly, making a fist at the forest. My friend and I walk away.* |
| The Forest: You and your friend begin descending the incline, leaving the dark forest and its mysteries behind. As you look back one last time, a mischievous smirk playing on your lips, you give the forest the middle finger. With your friend by your side, you walk away, eager to put the traumatic experience behind you and find solace in the hustle and bustle of the nearby city. |
